The Claw Machine

Bryn has always been a claw machine savant.  I think she's the only person who  pull something out of the machine at the Woolwich DQ every time she plays. 

As we headed out to Vidal Plaza, Bryn told the boys that they could play at the claw machines, but they'd never win anything. She hadn't won anything since arriving in Misawa. 

There were only a few machines to choose from. 

And machines that will keep a Japanese chapter of Gamblers Anonymous open for a long time. 

This arcade/casino is in among a bunch of other shops in a building the size of a Super WalMart. 

Bryn's losing streak has ended. 

Here's what she won. 

In a claw machine. 

For real. 

Yes. A beetle. In a hermit crab-like box. 

That disk thing is food. 

They've named it Gilbert. 

It was with a bunch of other things AS A PRIZE IN A CLAW MACHINE!

They've even taught it tricks. 

It's doing giants. 

You can only imagine how happy Jim was to arrive after a long day serving our country to hear that his daughter had a new pet.
