Airline food

As you might be able to guess, I'm blogging from my phone and not posting until I find wifi. And writing these blogs is a leap of faith since I've not blogged this way before.

Anyway.

Seamus is very impressed by the hospitality. He's even eaten quinoa, which we've tried to cook several times but could never produce an edible result (though that may be a referendum on my skills as a domestic goddess). He even ate three Lima beans!

On the other hand, Keagan and I took one look at the cat food on a bed of rice and had a different reaction.

Recently we were served Ramen cup 'o noodle and a beef and mayo sandwich.  We all politely declined the soup and ate the top of the sandwich roll. Sheila said there isn't much bread in Misawa.

Our pre-flight meal was $40. 2 grilled cheese and one btc: bacon, tomato and cheese. Keagan can't pass up bacon.

Our layover was not a layover. We cleared customs where the agent accused me of kidnapping the boys and would not let me answer questions.  "Does your father know where you are?  Where is your father?  Is he allowing this trip?"  He spoke gruffly to me that I should always have a letter with documentation that the trip is allowed.

I read extensively for this trip and registered with the embassy, insurance company, credit card company, consulted with numerous travel guides and websites and never heard of needing additional documentation.

Ok, so there's one unkind Canadian.

But I managed to not go all howler-monkey on him. I'm not the ugly American. The boys were bewildered, and answered the questions appropriately with just a touch of fear that we would be refused entry.

We arrived at our gate and checked in. The agent said we'd be boarding in five minutes. I asked if I had time to get food, and he said yes. Prior to this, Seamus had eaten 1/3 of a cookie and an order of Dunkin Donuts hash browns. I needed to get some food into him.

We didn't miss the plane, but I did have some stressed out boys watching other people board.

Oh, and no, we didn't see Justin Beiber.
